Thrilling News: Transfer of Ownership 

Dear SOM community,

It is with great excitement that we are reaching out today. You may have heard that SOM Sense of Motion Footwear has been for sale.

SOM Footwear has found new ownership under the umbrella of Softstar Shoes in Oregon. All SOM equipment is now in their facility in Philomath. Olie has spent time teaching them the processes and plans to revisit them when they start manufacturing SOM's shoes. They are presently integrating manufacturing processes into their production lines. They plan to launch in mid-August officially (you're in on the secret here).

The Softstar company has been a model of inspiration to SOM Footwear from our beginnings. They understand barefoot-feel footwear, care about their team and customers, and make their shoes in the USA high-quality product-oriented. The transition is smooth and natural; we are confident you will also appreciate them.

Softstar Shoes was founded in 1985. They count more than 30 employees who are directly involved in business decisions. It is a socially and environmentally responsible company.

In August, they will launch two SOM models from their website: the canvas with white soles and the Graciano.     

They will announce the colors as soon as possible. They intend to add more SOM models as they fine-tune the processes. You must give them time as they gear up before you can ask for laces, inserts, or other services. Please note that resoling won't be available until further notice. Programs like SOM VIP will no longer be in force, and they may not have all your purchase history easily accessible, but we know they'll do everything they can to assist you with your demands.

Softstar will email you before the launch in August.  Please be assured that Softstar has a robust privacy policy. Softstar does not sell/share client emails, and they have an easy unsubscribe button if you choose not to get further emails from them.  In the meantime, don't be surprised by the silence on their website until they are ready for a big announcement.

What made SOM is really what our customers taught us over the past eleven years. We couldn't do it without you, and Softstar has the same respect for your patronage.  With great pleasure and emotion, we are saying goodbye and letting you be served by a company that shares our love of the customers.
